Sonekin Co. Ltd., a prominent player in the recycling sector in Japan, is making significant strides in its operations despite a modest workforce of fewer than 20 employees across its two facilities. The company is known for processing substantial volumes of recyclable ferrous and nonferrous metals, serving both domestic and international markets.

Jundai Gon, Operations Manager at Sonekin, highlights the company's commitment to meeting diverse customer needs while ensuring the delivery of clean, processed grades to melt shops. This dedication to quality necessitates a careful selection of equipment.

In recent years, Sonekin has upgraded its processing capabilities with two advanced machines from Bano Recycling, a leading manufacturer based in Padua, Italy. According to Gon, these machines are durable, reliable, and flexible, offering the ease of maintenance essential for the company's operations. The new equipment reflects Sonekin's ongoing investment in technology to enhance efficiency and service quality in the metal recycling industry.

The Bano Premac Hydro 18-70 model shredder stands out for its impressive performance in efficiently reducing scrap at slow speeds while delivering robust hydraulic power. This design also contributes to the longevity of the blades.

The Bano mechanism Premac functions as a primary or shredder designed to reduce the size of larger incoming scrap materials. At Sonekin, the Premac shredder is particularly suited for processing various types of copper cables, including marine cables, aluminium profiles, and aluminium conductor steel-reinforced (ACSR) cables.

While Premac's primary function is size reduction, Bano’s advice led to integrating a magnet and a pivoting conveyor. These additions are particularly beneficial when shredding ACSR cables, which consist of aluminium and steel. The magnet separates the two metals, while the pivoting conveyor efficiently releases the material, ensuring smooth operation.

For wire and cable streams that require further separation, the system directs them to Sonekin’s second Bano Recycling machine—a Horizontal Turbo wire processing unit. This machine is specifically designed to separate copper from plastic, significantly increasing recovery rates and preparing the material for shipment to markets worldwide.
