Amcor Capsules, a global leader in developing and producing environmentally responsible closures for wine and spirits, has enhanced the sustainability performance of its renowned Stelvin aluminium screwcap range by reducing its carbon footprint by up to 35 per cent.
{alcircleadd}The manufacturing process of a Stelvin screwcap now emits up to 35 per cent less carbon emissions compared to a standard screwcap produced with European aluminium sheets. This achievement is attributed to the incorporation of up to 46 per cent recycled aluminium and the meticulous selection of low-carbon primary aluminium, certified and independently verified in the production process. This significant reduction applies immediately to Stelvin and all 30H60 screw caps manufactured in Europe, North America, and South America for wine and spirits brands.
In their commitment to sustainability, brands can further advance their eco-friendly initiatives by choosing the PVDC-free liner known as Stelvin Inside.
These enhancements are readily accessible to customers globally. The eco-friendly version of the Stelvin screw cap is part of Amcor Capsules' Transparence program—an ongoing sustainability initiative launched in July 2023 to support the wine and spirits industry through continuous improvement.
Yannick Magnon, the General Manager of Amcor Capsules, said, “We were the market pioneers in 1964 with the launch of the first screw cap for wine. Since then, Stelvin has been recognised and praised by winemakers worldwide for setting the standard for quality and as one of the most sustainable capping solutions in the industry. We always aim for the best for our customers, and we wanted to go further to help them achieve their own sustainability goals.”
Amcor Capsules underscores its dedication to enhancing the sustainability of its products through the Stelvin carbon footprint reduction initiative. This move aligns with Amcor's ongoing commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). It reinforces the company's promise to decrease its carbon footprint, ultimately striving for net-zero emissions by 2050.
