Colorado-based Fortius Metals has bagged a US$2 million worth financing deal to be used as seed money from a German organisation that funds 3D projects with great potential, AM Ventures. Fortius will certainly emphasise on the further development of its patented 6061 aluminium welding wire used for additive manufacturing.
{alcircleadd}The invested amount would be applied to upscale the production capacity and amplify its strategies for the commercial market, ultimately leading to the growth of the additive manufacturing organisation.
Fortius Metals has mastered the art of 3D printing with advanced materials such as their flagship 6061 aluminium welding wire so that consumers might obtain precisely designed solutions that were an unimaginable dream in the years gone by. The company also claims that robotic 3D printing cannot produce such intricate designs.
The technology developed solely by the company will allow welding and 3D wire fabrication utilising high-performance metal alloys to serve the aerospace sector along with supplying material requirements for robotic welding fabricators.
The CEO of Fortius, Jeff Lints, commented: “We are looking forward to supplying customers who are already requesting our proprietary 6061 aluminium welding wire that solves traditional ‘hot cracking’ problems. We are proud to be a Colorado company along with many of our space and aircraft customers.”
Fortius seems adamant about the fact that its welds usually come with twice the strength of contemporary commercial welding and 3D printing solutions. This will definitely help the customers at large in improving their design performance, producing better quality items and decreasing the weight of each component.
The Senior Associate at AM Ventures, Phillip Schultheiss, quoted: “We strongly believe that large-scale additive manufacturing has massive potential. But until we spoke to Fortius, we had not seen an investment opportunity that could accelerate adoption. Jeffrey and his talented team are developing not only a way of making high strength metals readily available for large scale printing and traditional welding but also increasing their mechanical properties; an investment was just logical.”
AM Ventures seems quite optimistic about this collaboration as it considers Fortius Metal as a provider of ‘technologically cutting-edge’ solutions for the aerospace and defence industries. Moreover, the company inspired AM Ventures just enough to safely tread upon rigid CFIUS clearance protocols for investment so that a solid long-term partnership is formed between them.
