Gemilang International Ltd (GML), a Malaysian manufacturer of buses and bus bodies listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, has announced signing a contract with Al-Futtaim Auto & Machinery Company, a prominent mobility leader in the United Arab Emirates. Under this agreement, Gemilang will deliver 76 Volvo double-decker buses to the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (Dubai RTA).
{alcircleadd}FAMCO's regional managing director, Ramez Hamdan, emphasised that this project goes beyond the simple delivery of buses; it is designed to enhance Dubai's entire public transport infrastructure. The Dubai RTA project will include double-decker buses built on Volvo chassis featuring GML's advanced aluminium superstructure.
This innovative design, utilising Constellium's aluminium alloy and a bolted bus body system, was engineered by Swiss experts and has proven its durability and performance in Europe for over 50 years. GML will also supply Volvo BZL electric buses to FAMCO alongside the double-decker buses, underscoring GML's commitment to sustainable transportation solutions.
Mr Pang Jun Jie, Executive Director of GML, said, “Securing this contract reflects our commitment to delivering high-quality, innovative transportation solutions and the trust we have established with FAMCO and our international partners. As a proudly Malaysian company, we are honoured to contribute to the development of Dubai’s public transport system. This project also speaks to our efforts to expand Gemilang’s global footprint, with a focus on the transition to sustainable energy and electric vehicles (EVs). With our unique capabilities and established track record, we are well-positioned to secure more international projects in the future.”
