On February 16, 2023, the Prime Minister of Guinea, Dr Bernard Goumou, was precisely in Koumbia to launch a significant bauxite project. On this other trip to the Boké region, Dr Bernard Goumou was accompanied by Moussa Magassouba, the Minister of Mines and Geology.
{alcircleadd}The Prime Minister and mining minister launched the development phase of the Koumbia bauxite project in conjunction with local populations. As part of the Alliance Mining Commodities (AMC) project, it is estimated to cost one billion dollars.
The Project is located in the Gaoual prefecture of the Boké region of the Republic of Guinea, West Africa. The Koumbia mine is located approximately 220 kilometres north of Conakry, Guinea's capital, and 130 kilometres north of the port of Kamsar.
The Koumbia mining concession spans 728 square km and includes 15 plateaux of contiguous high-quality bauxite at the surface.
Alliance Mining Commodities Ltd (AMC) has undertaken significant exploration, Bankable Feasibility Studies (BFS) and engineering to justify the technical and commercial merit of the project. The attractiveness of the product quality has underpinned the Company’s assessment of the economic and commercial viability of the project.
Koumbia has a JORC-compliant Mineral Resource estimated at more than 1.5 billion tonnes. This Resource base makes the Koumbia Project a World-class bauxite development. The Resource is flat-lying at the surface and exhibits a high degree of continuity and low variability, making it simple to mine relative to other deposits of this size globally.
AMC (Alliance Mining Commodities Ltd.) is a privately owned company with a mining concession in the Gaoaul Prefecture northwest of the Republic of Guinea to develop the Koumbia Bauxite Project. The Government of Guinea holds a 10 per cent free carried interest in AMC SA, the subsidiary with the concession.
