In early August, the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur inaugurated a programme on artificial intelligence (AI) to educate students about using technology in the manufacturing industry, including aluminium.
The programme will be for three months, with classes only on weekends. Teachers from the computer science, electronics, electrical, and math departments will conduct the classes, according to the AI for Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems at IIT-Khargpur.
The programme: ‘Hands-on AI for the real-world Applications’ will also include practical instruction from TCS scientists, business professionals, and IIT researchers. Artificial intelligence has become a sheer need in the aluminium industry to boost production, improve quality, reduce carbon emissions and achieve sustainability.
However, this certificate programme is not only meant to satisfy the needs of the aluminium sector but is designed to carry out NEP 2020 guidelines, including concepts-based and practical transdisciplinary learning to upskill people around.
Enrolled students will also receive 100 hours of total experience learning, industry readiness, real-world dataset, and the chance to interact with business leaders as part of the course.
The programme will start on September 2 and end on December 2. Students seeking undergraduate or postgraduate degrees, wishing to pursue a career in artificial intelligence (AI), or looking for a career change in artificial intelligence or machine learning can enrol on this 3-month course.
Artificial intelligence can easily detect production anomalies in aluminium smelters, allowing operators to take timely action and deliver consistent quality products. Also, decision-making becomes easier based on an accurate database collected with the help of artificial intelligence and data analytics.
If you wish to know more about AI in aluminium industry, we are then happy to let you know that AL Circle is coming up with a new comprehensive report on ‘Digital Transformation in the Aluminium Industry’. Stay tuned to www.alcircle.com to get more updates about the report.
