Indonesia’s primary aluminium producer PT Inalum (Persero) has exported 20,000 tonnes of aluminium ingots to Trafigura Pte. Ltd, in Port Klang, Malaysia. President- Director of Inalum Budi G. The company’s exports, especially aluminium ingots, are expected to stand at 40,000 tonnes in 2018 worth US$79 million. The export destinations are Japan, Switzerland, Singapore, Britain, Australia, South Korea, Hong Kong, Malaysia and the Netherlands.

"This export of aluminium ingots to Malaysia is a concrete step to make Inalum a leading global company. In the future, Inalum is expected to be able to bring Indonesia as one of the global players in the aluminium market," said Budi G. Sadikin.

The release of the export product was carried out at Kuala Tanjung Inalum Port attended by Budi G. Sadikin, Strategic Service Director, Ogi Prastomiyono, Business Development Director (concurrently Managing Director), Oggy A. Kosasih and other directors.

Inalum’s expected export sales of minerals, coal and its downstream products in 2018 is US$2.51 billion, or an increase of 33 percent compared to 2017 realization of US$1.89 billion. The increase was supported by the export performance of PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) and PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam).

The Mining Industry Holding recorded export growth of US$1.57 billion in the first eight months of 2018, or 83 percent of 2017 achievement of US$1.89 billion.

"Improving export performance is in line with the mandate to establish a mining industry holding to become a world-class company. For that we continue to pursue various targets such as developing production capacity to 1 million tons and increasing foreign exchange through aluminium export activities," Budi G. Sadikin said.
