Ipswich Borough Council has installed eight new bins at the Ipswich Town Centre devoted to aluminium cans and plastic bottle recycling, thanks to the #InTheLoop grant money. The new type of bins, installed in Autumn 2023, are part of an on-street recycling effort with eye-catching designs to encourage homeowners and tourists to recycle plastic bottles and cans in their portion of the dual bin - with the other section for all other garbage.
{alcircleadd}The eight pairs of novel specialised receptacles may be located near Tavern Street, Westgate Street, and Carr Street. To avoid contamination, it is recommended that all other forms of garbage, such as coffee cups and crisp packets, be disposed of in the general waste part of these bins. It is crucial to prioritise aluminium cans and plastic recycling in this context.
The #InTheLoop initiative, which was first implemented in Leeds in 2018, is regarded as the largest collaborative effort in the United Kingdom aimed at enhancing recycling practices in public spaces. According to Hubbub, 500 bins have been implemented across several #InTheLoop pilot projects. These bins have successfully facilitated the collection and recycling of over 2.5 million bottles.
