Kaiser Aluminum Warrick, one of the biggest producers of aluminium coated coil for the package business in North America, is planning to expand its campus to house a new row coat line in Newburgh as part of an estimated $200 million investment in the business. The main aim of this expansion is to delve more deeply into the coating sector.
{alcircleadd}The new structure will have a 100-foot-tall ceiling beneath a 665-foot-long line. A 12-mile coil could be coated with the new coating process in 20 minutes. The 24/7 factory will be able to considerably raise output levels with this expansion as they focus on the coating business.
“This coating line is going to be one of the largest in North America, and it doesn’t actually grow our total volume out of the plant. We shift our volume into a higher margin product, so it makes the plant’s future much more stable,” said Evan Quinley, Operations Manager at Kaiser Aluminum.
On the entire continent, there are in total 14 Kaiser locations, with Warrick being one of the most recent additions. The facility was once owned by Alcoa until being bought in 2021. One-third of the 1,200 workers at the factory are from the Henderson and Owensboro regions.
According to Quinley, they offer opportunities for their workers to volunteer in the nearby villages and even give them a day to do so, which frequently results in their having a positive influence on the regional economies.
