LME aluminium benchmark price loses US$16.5/t to US$2422/t; SHFE price mounts to US$2,759/t

LME aluminium opened at US$2,405 per tonne on Wednesday and closed at US$2,426.5 per tonne, down US$1.5 per tonne or 0.06 per cent.

On Wednesday, August 24, both LME aluminium cash bid price and LME aluminium official settlement price dropped by US$16.5 per tonne or 0.67 per cent to rest at US$2,421.50 per tonne and US$2,422 per tonne.

3-month bid price and 3-month offer price went down by US$3 per tonne or 0.12 per cent to close at US$2,413 per tonne and US$2,414 per tonne.

December 23 bid price and December 23 offer price climbed down by US$5 per tonne or 0.20 per cent to peg at US$2,453 per tonne and US$2,458 per tonne.

LME aluminium opening stock was recorded at 282075 tonnes. Live warrants and Cancelled warrants halted at 183475 tonnes and 98600 tonnes.

LME aluminium 3-month Asian Reference Price escalated by US$49.16 per tonne or 2.05 per cent to US$2,439.17 per tonne.

SHFE aluminium price 

On August 25, the SHFE benchmark aluminium price grew by US$9 per tonne or 0.32 per cent, coming in at US$2,759 per tonne.

The most-traded SHFE 2209 aluminium closed up 2.66 per cent or RMB 495 per tonne to RMB 19,090 per tonne, with open interest up 10,003 lots to 139,139 lots.

The most-traded SHFE 2209 aluminium contract opened at RMB 18,940 per tonne overnight and rose to RMB 19,025 per tonne before closing at RMB 18,910 per tonne, down RMB 180 per tonne or 0.94 per cent.
