LME benchmark aluminium price marks 0.85% upward shift to US$2442.5/t; SHFE drops US$17/t

LME aluminium opened at US$2,624.6 per tonne on Thursday and closed at US$2,435.5 per tonne, an increase of US$9 per tonne or 0.37 per cent.

LME aluminium cash bid price stopped at US$2,441.50 per tonne, with a 0.82 per cent or US$20 per tonne hike on Thursday, August 25, while LME aluminium official settlement price rested at US$2,442.50 per tonne, experiencing an increase of US$20.50 per tonne or 0.85 per cent.   

3-month bid price witnessed a 0.56 per cent or US$13.50 per tonne elevation to stand at US$2,426.50 per tonne and the 3-month offer price also had a similar percentage added to it, arriving at US$2,427.50 per tonne.

December 23 bid price and December 23 offer price expanded by US$12 per tonne or 0.49 per cent to rest at US$2,465 per tonne and US$2,470 per tonne, respectively.

LME aluminium opening stock continued to decrease by 0.69 per cent or 1,950 tonnes, from 282,075 tonnes to 280,125 tonnes as of August 25.

Live warrants totalled 183,600 tonnes, boosted by 0.07 per cent or 125 tonnes, recording a rise for two days. 

Cancelled warrants read 96,525 tonnes, with a 2.10 per cent or 2,075 tonnes decline from the day before.

LME aluminium 3-month Asian Reference Price came in at US$2,434.59 per tonne, with a US$4.58 per tonne or 0.19 per cent drop.

SHFE aluminium price 

Today, on August 26, the SHFE benchmark aluminium price experienced a US$17 per tonne or 0.62 per cent plunge to stand at US$2,742 per tonne, if compared with yesterday’s data. 

The most-traded SHFE 2209 aluminium contract opened at RMB 18,915 per tonne overnight and rose to RMB 18,960 per tonne before closing at RMB 18,760 per tonne, down RMB 150 per tonne or 0.79 per cent.

The most-traded SHFE 2209 aluminium closed up 0.03 per cent or RMB 5 per tonne to RMB 18,910 per tonne, with open interest down 15,649 lots to 123,497 lots.
