In 2024, Moss launched its closed-loop scheme and is now celebrating the successful results of its first Aluminium Composite Panel (ACP) collection, recycling over six tonnes of plastic and 4.3 tonnes of aluminium. Partnering with Multipanel UK and Perspex Distribution, the initiative highlights the collective commitment to reducing waste and optimising resource use across the three companies and throughout the supply chain.

“Our visit to Multipanel’s impressive facility has reaffirmed the strong partnership and shared vision between our three businesses. We are delighted to be part of this recycling initiative, offering products with robust green credentials,” said Group Account Director Mike Hamling
Multipanel UK’s Alupanel ACP, known for its low carbon footprint, is ideal for signage, displays, and exhibition stands. Distributed by Perspex Distribution in Essex, the panels are fabricated and printed by Moss in St Neots for customer supply. At the end of their lifecycle, Moss collects the panels and processes the trim waste in Birmingham using a guillotine cutter to separate it into aluminium and LDPE streams. The aluminium is sent to a UK smelter for recycling, while the LDPE core is ground into pellets and returned to Multipanel UK for the production of new cores.
Gary Weeks from Multipanel UK commented, “Last year the LDPE returned from this, and other projects, contributed to the production of 30,000 new panels, highlighting the tangible benefits of our closed-loop approach. This project proves the closed loop recycling concept can work and we will look to grow volumes not only in the UK but into mainland Europe too.”
Panels have already been collected from clients like Blenheim Palace, with the initial batch achieving a 75 per cent closed-loop recycling rate. Group Account Director Mike Hamling recently visited Multipanel’s production site near Dover with Perspex Distribution to validate the process. This visit follows his trip to the Birmingham recycling facility last year, as part of ongoing efforts to reach a 100 per cent recycling rate.
Luke Martyn, marketing manager at Perspex Distribution, added, “We are excited to work with both Moss and Multipanel UK on this important step to a closed loop vision. Moss has been able to see first-hand one of the many advantages of our UK based supply chain while their customers benefit from the knowledge that the Alupanel A-Lite ACP used in their projects will later enjoy a second life.”
