Grup Aresa Internacional of Spain has delivered four Aresa 1700 inshore patrol boats to the Nigerian Navy. Aresa had already informed last month that the boats were shipped, marking the conclusion of commissioning, sea trials, etc.
In April, Aresa announced the launch of their first fighter vessel named Aresa 1700 Fighter II vessel (P494). The Aresa 1700 (Fighter II class) is constructed using aluminium and is around 17 metres long. Its overall length is 19.2 metres with a 4 metre beam. Each vessel displaces 7.6 tonnes.
{alcircleadd}Not only this, they are also powered by two MTU engines which can deliver 1250 hp, driven by a propeller. The Aresa 1700 also features a top speed of 40 knots. A Rigid Inflatable Boat (RHIB) can be taken to the rear of the vessel and launched by the vertical launching system from Aresa. Nigeria’s vessel comes loaded with thermal and night vision cameras.
Previously, Nigeria had acquired Aresa vessels, mainly for the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).
Aresa concentrates in the building, repair, and maintenance, services, and marketing of composite and marine aluminium boats up to 60 metres in length. Over the previous sixty years, it has produced over 1200 boats.
Aresa has also supplied many vessels to African military customers, like the Senegal Maritime Police (15 Aresa 1200 Coastal Patrol vessels in the 1990s), Cameroon (17 military vessels in the 2010s), Nigerian Navy and Angola Maritime Police.
