2030 sustainability goals through 3x30
With ambitious sustainability objectives by 2030, Novelis has recently designed an initiative “Novelis 3x30” upholding its strong vision to advancing aluminium as a material of choice for circular solutions and accelerating decarbonisation efforts. Under the initiative, the company has three broad goals –
1) Increasing recycled content in rolled products to 75 per cent;
2) Be a supplier of aluminium flat-rolled products with lowest carbon emissions at less than 3 tonnes of CO2e per tonne; and
3) To lead the industry toward circularity through first-mover investments
Already making moves
To fast-track the increase of recycled content, Novelis has entered into a three-year strategic agreement with TSR Recycling GmbH & Co. KG to source 75,000 tonnes of raw materials made from presorted and processed end-of-life aluminium products to feed into its low-carbon aluminium sheet for the automotive sector. This agreement directly supports the rising demand for recycled content aluminium.
