Primary aluminium inventories gain 27,000 tonnes to close the year at 613,000 tonnes

According to the Shanghai Metals Market, social inventories of primary aluminium built up 27,000 tonnes on Thursday, December 31. The inventories thus, closed the year 2020 at 613,000 tonnes across eight major consumption areas, including SHFE warrants.

Last week, on December 24, the inventories stood at 586,000 tonnes, declining by 3,000 tonnes from 589,000 tonnes on December 17.

The increase in primary aluminium inventories on December 31 touched upon the cities like Shanghai, Wuxi, and Nanhai. While Wuxi saw the highest hike of 25,000 tonnes to stand at 223,000 tonnes, inventories in Nanhai and Shanghai grew 4,000 tonnes and 3,000 tonnes to come in at 129,000 tonnes and 94,000 tonnes, respectively.

Aluminium Industry Recap: 2020

In Gongyi and Hangzhou, the inventories, however, dropped 4,000 tonnes and 1,000 tonnes to hover at 45,000 tonnes and 70,000 tonnes, respectively. In Tianjin, Chongqing, and Linyi, primary aluminium inventories remained restrained at 46,000 tonnes, 2,000 tonnes, and 4,000 tonnes, respectively.
