Primary aluminium production in Africa during the second quarter of 2022 stood at 406,000 tonnes, up by 9,000 tonnes or 2.28 per cent from 397,000 tonnes in the first quarter of the year ended March 31. On a year-on-year basis, the output stood 10,000 tonnes or 2.52 per cent higher than 396,000 tonnes.
{alcircleadd}In June 2022, primary aluminium production in Africa came in at 137,000 tonnes, down by 1,000 tonnes a month ago. In May, primary alumuminium output in Africa was 138,000 tonnes, up by 7,000 tonnes or 5.34 per cent from 131,000 tonnes in April.
On a year-on-year basis, Africa’s primary aluminium production in June 2022 stood 5.38 per cent or 7,000 tonnes higher than 130,000 tonnes.
In the first half of the year, Africa’s primary aluminium output totalled 803,000 tonnes, 2.82 per cent or 22,000 tonnes higher than 781,000 tonnes a year ago.
The world primary aluminium production in June 2022 stood at 5.651 million tonnes, down by 3.05 per cent from 5.829 million tonnes in May 2022 but up by 1.95 per cent from 5.543 million tonnes.
In H1 2022, world primary aluminium production amounted to 33.668 million tonnes, negligibly down by 0.12 per cent from 33.708 million tonnes during the same period last year.
