The governments of Corona and Irvine have partnered with 'Recycle From Home' to offer citizens of the two cities with pick-up-services for California Refund Value (CA CRV) containers. CA CRV or CRV is the amount customers receive when they recycle aluminium or other metal beverage containers at authorised recycling facilities.
The minimum return amount for each type of suitable beverage container is set at 5 cents for containers under 24 ounces and 10 cents for containers 24 ounces or larger. Residents may separate CA CRV aluminium cans, plastic bottles, and glass bottles using collecting bags and barcode tracking labels provided by Recycle From Home and then schedule a pick-up online.
"As long as it stays "CA CRV" on the container, we'll pay you for them," stated Recycle From Home.
The California Refund Value is paid by consumers when they purchase beverages from retailers. They receive their money back when they return the containers to a recycling facility or if they live in Corona or Irvine and participate in the ‘Recycle From Home’ program. Interestingly, aluminium cans have the highest recycling rates of all beverage packaging that qualifies for the CA CRV. Cans must have the "CA Cash Refund" stamp to qualify for the California Redemption Value (CRV).
"This new program with the City of Corona picks up and pays Corona residents for recyclable cans and bottles! This program makes it incredibly easy to recycle right from your driveway or doorstep," announced the city on Monday.
According to Recycle from Home, payments are usually sent out within 24 hours after processing a programme participant's recyclables. Milk, medical food, infant formula, alcohol, spirits, 100 per cent fruit juice or more (46 ounces or more), 100 per cent vegetable juice or more (over 16 ounces), and food and non-beverage containers aren't eligible for the pick-up service.
