Established in 1989, the Midlands-based Kestrel Aluminium Systems Limited has been taken over by German building envelope specialist Schüco Group.
The company with 6330 employees and 40,000 partners in more than 80 countries, Schuco Group’s subsidiary Schuco UK has acquired Kestrel Aluminium Systems and Kestrel Powder Coating from the firms’ directors Steve Shute and Jane Gibson.
Kestrel supplies aluminium extrusions for shopfronts, doors, curtain walling, windows, and glazed roofs. In addition to providing products to the commercial and domestic markets, the company also deals with fabricators, specifiers, and contractors.
Schüco Group develops and sells aluminium, steel, and PVC-U building envelope solutions. Schuco UK and Kestrel will continue to operate as separate entities, with Kestrel maintaining its Birmingham base.
Pete Temprell, the Managing Director of Schueco UK & Ireland, said: “This is a fantastic development for Schueco UK. The Kestrel businesses have been established for over 30 years in the UK and have a strong customer base, which we can continue to grow and develop.”
On behalf of Kestrel's shareholders, Orbis assisted in preparing the business for sale and helped guide the sale process. The Orbis team was led by Partner Tom McCarthy, Manager Harriet Denning and Executive Liam Hadfield.
Steve Shute of Kestrel said: "Having started the business in 1989 and developed it over 33 years, the sale needed to be handled correctly to protect the legacy and future of the company and its staff."
Corporate finance consultant Orbis advised the Kestrel shareholders.
Partner Tom McCarthy said: "From the start, we felt that Schueco UK Ltd was the right partner. Kestrel has gone from strength to strength in recent years and is perfectly placed to continue its growth story as part of the Schüco Group family."
