The United Arab Emirates exported 220,000 tonnes of aluminium (crude metal and alloys and aluminium semi-finished products) to the US in the first five months of 2019, from 282,000 tonnes exported in the first five months of 2018. This records a decrease of 21.99% year-on-year.

{alcircleadd}Exports to the US stood at 42,900 tonnes in May, down 14.37% from 50, 100 tonnes in May 2018, according to the latest Mineral Industry Survey report from US Geological Survey. But aluminium exports were up by 36.19% month-on-month.
Crude metal and alloys export came in at 218,000 tonnes in the five months, as compared to 281,000 tonnes in the five months 2018. This indicates a drop of 22.42% YoY. Exports in May dropped 14.86% year-on-year, but up 37.22% month-on-month. Crude metal and alloys export came in at 42,400 tonnes in May.
Semi-finished products (plates, sheets, bars, etc.) exports to the US stood at 2,100 tonnes in January-May 2019, a jump of 234.93% from 627 tonnes in January-May 2018. In May, the UAE exported 413 tonnes of semi-finished products to the US, up 85.2% YoY, but down 20.58% MoM.
On the import side, the UAE imported 2,000 tonnes of aluminium (crude metal and alloys, aluminium semi-finished products and scrap) to the US in the first five months of 2019. Aluminium scrap exports were 1,650 tonnes in January-May 2019.
