The United Arab Emirates exported 321,000 tonnes of aluminium crude metal and alloys to the US in the first nine months of 2019, from 456,000 tonnes exported in the first nine months of 2018, according to the latest Mineral Industry Survey report from US Geological Survey. That was down 29.61% over last year.
Crude metal and alloys exports to the US stood at 57.67% or 24,800 tonnes YoY lower in September. Exports dropped from 43,000 tonnes in September 2018 to 18,200 tonnes in September 2019. Exports declined 29.18% from August’s total exports of 25,700 tonnes and 30.53% from July’s total exports of 26,200 tonnes.
Semi-finished products (plates, sheets, bars, etc.) exports to the US came in at 2,590 tonnes in January-September 2019, from 1,910 tonnes in January-September 2018. In September, the UAE exported 114 tonnes of semi-finished products to the US, down from 543 tonnes last year.
On the import side, the UAE imported 4,850 tonnes of aluminium (crude metal and alloys, aluminium semi-finished products and scrap) from the US in the first nine months of 2019 as compared to 2,750 tonnes in the first nine months of 2018.
