The European Union is considering the release of its 16th sanctions package against Russia in February 2025, coinciding with the third anniversary of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. A draft of the upcoming package has been outlined, which includes restrictions on aluminium imports, military equipment, and vessels transporting Russian oil.
On Thursday, January 16, the three leading companies in the Indian aluminium industry—Vedanta Limited, National Aluminium Company (NALCO), and Hindalco Industries Limited—saw their intraday stock prices rise by 2 to 3 percent.
According to SMM survey estimates, China's prebaked anode production in December 2024 was 1.9382 million tonnes, up 4.81 per cent Y-o-Y and down 0.17 per cent M-o-M. Among this, supporting prebaked anode production was 866,500 tonnes, and commercial prebaked anode production was 1.0717 million tonnes. The cumulative prebaked anode production in China for 2024 reached 23.6092 million tonnes, up 7.56 per cent Y-o-Y.
On Monday, January 13, Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba) announced that its strategic merger discussions with Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma'aden) have been mutually discontinued. The Guyana Government has announced a remarkable resurgence in the bauxite mining industry, with production reaching a new peak in 2024, marking a 225 per cent increase compared to 2023.
