The United States’ aluminium crude metals and alloys imports from India decreased in August 2022, following an intermittent rise in the previous month after the past two successive months of decline. According to the US Census Bureau data, the United States imported 10,200 tonnes of crude metals and alloys in August, down by 4,500 tonnes or 30.61 per cent month-on-month.
In July, the import volume stood at 14,700 tonnes, reflecting a hike of 6,310 tonnes or 42.93 per cent from a month ago after two consecutive months of downfall by 29.37 per cent and 16.93 per cent, respectively.
On a year-on-year calculation, the United States imports in August 2022 edged a 146.38 per cent hike from 4,140 tonnes.
India was the fourth largest supplier of aluminium crude metals and alloys to the United States in August 2022 after Russia. From January to August, India’s aluminium crude metals and alloys export volume to the US in the said month was pegged at 75,500 tonnes, up by 88.75 per cent from 40,000 tonnes during the same period last year.
The United States total aluminium crude metals and alloys imports during January-August 2022 amounted to 2.85 million tonnes – 21.28 per cent higher than 2.35 million tonnes a year earlier.
In August 2022, the US imported 360,000 tonnes of crude metals and alloys compared to 345,000 tonnes in July and 319,000 tonnes in August 2021.
