US aluminium scrap exports to Malaysia stand flat M-o-M in November 2020 but reflect a hike of 6.75% on year

The United States aluminium scrap exports to Malaysia in November 2020 stood almost flat month-on-month at 44,300 tonnes, found the US Geological Survey. In October, the US scrap exports to Malaysia came in at 44,800 tonnes, registering a surge of 7,200 tonnes or 19.15 per cent from 37,600 tonnes in September 2020. In August, aluminium scrap exports from the US to Malaysia stood at 41,300 tonnes, meaning the exports in October saw a decline of 3,700 tonnes or 8.96 per tonne month-on-month.

On a year-on-year basis, the United States aluminium scrap exports to Malaysia in November 2020 stood 2,800 tonnes or 6.75 per cent higher than 41,500 tonnes.

During January-November 2020, the United States aluminium scrap exports to Malaysia amounted to 382,000 tonnes - significantly up by 48.64 per cent from 257,000 tonnes during the same period last year.

The United States total aluminium scrap exports in November 2020 totalled 175,000 tonnes, down 4.89 per cent from 184,000 tonnes month-on-month but up 15.89 per cent from 151,000 tonnes year-on-year.

In total eleven months of 2020, scrap exports from the US to Malaysia stood at 1.69 million tonnes, 1.74 per cent lower than 1.72 million tonnes during the corresponding period last year.
