VDL Group joins ASI as the new downstream supporter member

Aluminium Stewardship Initiative announced the joining of VDL Bike Frame Technologies as the new downstream supporter member. Founded in 2022, VDL Bike is a manufacturer of 100 per cent European-made aluminium bicycle frames. The worldwide industrial family enterprise VDL Group and applies the knowledge of a high-tech multinational to fabricate bicycle frames.

“VDL Bike Frame Technologies wants to provide a sustainable solution for aluminum bike frame production within Europe. We join ASI to commit to responsible sourcing of the materials used for our products,” Jason Koevoet, Managing Director at VDL Bike.

Being able to manufacture frames and get key components entirely inside Europe. All of the suppliers in VDL Bike believe in further increasing the sustainability of the whole supply chain. They seek to contribute to the advancement of the industry, the living environment, and general well-being by creating and manufacturing innovatively and competitively.

The company is also an active supporter of the environment and sustainability. Their primary focus is on the execution of energy-saving and waste-prevention measures, as well as recycling raw materials. A circular economy provides possibilities for the supply chain, such as increased collaboration, innovation, reduced raw material use, and reduced waste.

A circular system seeks to reuse as many goods and resources as feasible while minimising value degradation. The European aluminium suppliers have an active sustainability programme in operations and product range. The objective is to collaborate with customers and suppliers to reintroduce used frames into recycling.
