Alba Receives Bronze Medal from EcoVadis

Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba), the world’s largest aluminium smelter ex-China, has been distinguished with the ‘Bronze Medal’ 2020 in recognition of its commitment and performance in terms of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by the international rating platform EcoVadis.

Based on international CSR standards including the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact, and the ISO 26000, covering 190 spend categories and 150 countries, the EcoVadis certification takes into consideration four areas: Environment, Labor Practices, Fair Business and Sustainable Procurement.

Commenting on this occasion, Alba’s Acting Chief Executive Officer Ali Al Baqali said:

“This certification is a reflection of our commitment to CSR and Sustainability initiatives. This is just the first step as we aim to undergo more upgrades into our Safety, Environment and Social Governance which will eventually position us as a green aluminium producer. This honour comes at the right time as we fully ramp-up Line 6 and seek to expand our product portfolio to newer markets especially in Europe and North America.”

Alba recently unveiled its Objectives for 2020 – Safety Globe, Beyond Line 6 and Legacy of Titan – along with a major focus to align with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030. The Company has also recently achieved ASI Performance Certification.
