China’s average alumina spot price marks a Y-o-Y surge of 26.44%; A00 aluminium ingot price gains RMB190/t

China’s average alumina spot price has marked a Y-o-Y growth of RMB 765 per tonne or 26.44 per cent from RMB 2,893 recorded on May 9, 2023. As of today, the price has expanded by RMB 30 per tonne to clock at RMB 3,658 per tonne. 

The alumina prices have shown diverse changes across all the provinces. The highest increase was observed in Shanxi, where they have surged by RMB 50 per tonne to settle at RMB 3,690 per tonne. On the same day, the prices in Henan and Shandong have hiked by RMB 30 per tonne to dock at RMB 3,640 per tonne and RMB 3,630 per tonne. The prices in Guizhou and Lianyungang have grown by RMB 20 per tonne and RMB 2.5 per tonne to reside at RMB 3,650 per tonne and RMB 3,695 per tonne, respectively. 

On the same day, China’s A00 aluminium ingot price gained RMB 190 per tonne to peg at RMB 20,520 per tonne. The average price stands between RMB 20,500 per tonne and RMB 20,540 per tonne. The spot contract price may be traded at a discount price of RMB 80 to RMB 40 per tonne. 

In regions like Gongyi, Wuxi, Hangzhou, and Linyi, the domestic aluminium ingot prices have increased by RMB 190 per tonne to arrive at RMB 20,440 per tonne, RMB 20,530 per tonne, RMB 20,520 per tonne and RMB 20,570 per tonne. In Tianjin, the price has risen by RMB 180 per tonne to RMB 20,540 per tonne. As per the data, in Foshan and Chongqing, the A00 aluminium ingot prices have grown by RMB 170 per tonne to stop at RMB 20,490 per tonne and RMB 20,500 per tonne. In Shenyang, the price hiked by RMB 150 per tonne, settling at RMB 20,480 per tonne. 

The domestic price of low-carbon aluminium has also expanded by RMB 156 per tonne to arrive at RMB 21,547 per tonne. As per the data, the high purity aluminium (99.99%) price and high purity aluminium (99.996%) price have surged by RMB 200 per tonne to clock at RMB 27,900 per tonne and RMB 28,900 per tonne. 

The Australian alumina FOB price has also added US$2 per tonne to reach US$405 per tonne. The price of aluminium alloy (A356) has shot up by RMB 200 per tonne to peg at RMB 21,050 per tonne, with the average prices standing between RMB 20,900 per tonne and RMB 21,200 per tonne.
