EPIQ Machinery, a leader in integrated material handling solutions for the metals & mining, and pulp and paper industries, is proud to announce the strategic acquisition of a 50 per cent stake in FAFECO GROUP, one of India's most respected crane and overhead crane manufacturers.
By this acquisition, EPIQ Machinery strengthened its human capital to reach a skilled workforce of over 900 employees, a third of whom are based in Canada. In addition, the company consolidates its global presence, particularly in India, where it has successfully expanded its operations over the past 12 years through EPIQ ADF in Pune.
Founded in 1971, FAFECO GROUP has extensive expertise in custom-designed cranes with unit lifting capacities of up to 500 tonnes. The company operates three manufacturing facilities in Pune with an annual production capacity of 100 cranes. FAFECO serves a global customer base and exports to Europe and Asia.
Shyam Gurnani will retain a 50 per cent stake in the company. A long-time trusted partner of EPIQ ADF, he will continue to play a key leadership role in the overall management of EPIQ INDIA, which now includes FAFECO, ADF, STYMER, and NOVIMEQ. The FAFECO team has a deep understanding of the Indian market. Its operational expertise will ensure a seamless integration and continued company growth.
By combining FAFECO's strength in specialised crane manufacturing with EPIQ's expertise in robotics and automation, the partnership will foster the next generation of smart, interconnected industrial operations.
The goal is to create highly automated and intelligent material handling solutions that integrate seamlessly with factory digital ecosystems. This acquisition strengthens EPIQ Machinery's ability to provide end-to-end solutions that improve the efficiency, safety, and performance of our customers.
Both companies will maintain their existing operations while collaborating closely on innovation, process optimisation, and market expansion.
Éloïse Harvey, CEO of EPIQ Machinery, said, “This acquisition is a natural step in our long-standing commitment to the Indian market. FAFECO’s proven expertise in industrial cranes aligns perfectly with EPIQ’s vision of delivering fully integrated material handling solutions that combine robotics, automation and digitalisation to optimise industrial operations.”
