In a move to become greener, Accolade Wines has taken a significant step in the Australian wine industry by launching its new brand, Wise Wolf. The brand was introduced to cater to environmentally-conscious consumers' growing demand for eco-friendly packaging. Some of their wise incorporations include 100 per cent recycled glass, plastic and aluminium.
The Wise Wolf by Banrock Station range is packaged in bottles made from 91 per cent recycled glass, a move that underscores the group's commitment to promoting sustainability in the industry. Banrock Stations has been at the forefront of promoting sustainability and launched 100 per cent recycled plastic eco-bottles in Australia and the UK last year. The company has also contributed over $7.5 million to conservation projects.
The Wise Wolf labels are made from 100 per cent upcycled sugarcane, while the cardboard shippers are made from 100 per cent recycled paper pulp. The new bottle caps use 26 per cent less material than standard caps, with 40 per cent of the caps made from recycled aluminium.
The Chief Marketing Officer, Sandy Mayo, said in her appreciation statement: "The launch of Wise Wolf by Banrock Station in Australia today reflects Accolade Wines' commitment to continue being a global leader in sustainable packaging."
"Our hope is that Australian consumers will embrace Wise Wolf and come along with us on our journey as we make wine packaging more sustainable and as the technology evolves and more recycling infrastructure comes online," Mayo remarked.
The Wise Wolf range is the company's latest sustainability milestone as it features two white wines, the Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc and Limestone Coast Chardonnay, with a Barossa Valley Shiraz joining the lineup next year. The packaging of the new range is designed to be eco-friendly, with all elements using the most sustainable materials available.
"Just as the wolf can be the catalyst for positive change in the environment, our ambition is for Wise Wolf by Banrock Station to spark positive changes across the wine industry. As one of the largest wine companies in the world, Accolade Wines is focused on leading the pack with innovations that make real and lasting change. We believe that we have a responsibility to provide wine consumers with more sustainable packaging choices, and we hope that others in the industry join us," Mayo confirmed.
Wise Wolf Wines will provide useful information to customers by including a QR code on each label, detailing the environmental attributes of each packaging component. The brand name Wise Wolf refers to the positive effect wolves have had on ecosystems in the northern hemisphere.
