On November 29, news came floating that Ardagh Metal Packaging in Whitehouse might close its operations by the start of 2024, as a reliable company source announced.
The company also stated that the employees at the unit were notified first-hand on November 28, Tuesday. It was sensible on Ardagh's part to have informed the workers before the final closure in Q1 2024.
The circular released by the sustainable packaging company read: "After a thorough review and analysis of our production capabilities, AMP has, in fact, made the difficult but final decision to close our beverage can manufacturing facility in Whitehouse, Ohio. The staff was informed of this as of yesterday. The closure will take place in Q1 of 2024, but the final details are still being determined. No further details at this time."
The prelude to this was first heard in October when the company declared the probable closure of the AMP Whitehouse facility.
A quality control worker at the plant, Rosie Tinocotold, exclaimed: "It was very shocking. I am a single mother of seven, so I don't have a plan B, so I don't know where to go from here."
The United Steel Workers 8316 President, Nicholas DiMasso Jr., said last month that the reason for this abrupt closure is unknown and unclear. It is being speculated that the shop floor workers were not even furnished with a definitive cause and almost 100 workers can lose their titles in just one blow.
