Aluminium Stewardship Initiative has reportedly granted Alu-met GmbH, an Austria-headquartered producer and supplier of high-quality aluminium billets, with Chain of Custody Standard certification. The company has bagged the recognition for aluminium extrusion billets production from recycled scrap at casting facilities - Aluminium GmbH Nachrodt (Germany) and Speedline Aluminium-Gießerei GmbH (Austria), and also for relevant functions at the head office.
{alcircleadd}Earlier, Alu-met received full ASI Performance Standard Certification for its Speedline Aluminium-Gießerei GmbH facility in 2020 and Aluminium GmbH Nachrodt in 2022.
The ASI Chain of Custody Standard certification is given to those who create a Chain of Custody for material produced and processed through the value chain into diverse downstream sectors.
On receiving the ASI CoC certification, Dr. Gerhard Anger, Alu-met GmbH General Manager, said: “We are very pleased that, as a supplement to the ASI Performance Standard, we have now successfully completed the ASI CoC certificate for the entire group of companies, consisting of Alumet GmbH as well as our production sites Aluminum GmbH Nachrodt and Speedline Aluminum Gießerei GmbH, and can thus fulfil the comprehensive ASI standard. Sustainability and a fair treatment of people has always been an important part of our corporate strategy. The ASI CoC certification is now a further step in representing and living these values along the entire value chain and making them visible to the outside.”
Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI, “ASI warmly congratulates Alu-met on achieving ASI Chain of Custody Standard Certification for both its casting facilities. Downstream aluminium-using companies are looking to their upstream suppliers to provide them with assurance of responsible production via ASI Performance Standard Certification. With ASI CoC Standard Certification, Alu-met can now also meet their customers’ responsible sourcing requirements for ASI Certified material.”
The independent, third-party audit of the Alu-met GmbH facility was carried out by TÜV Rheinland Cert GmbH.
