Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) announced that Chalco Shandong Advanced Material Co., Ltd has achieved certification against the ASI Performance Standard V3 and Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard V2 Certification (2022). The facility's key production processes include raw material slurry preparation, clinker sintering, leaching, red mud separation and washing, liquor purification, evaporation, seeding, and product packaging.
{alcircleadd}The products from Chalco Shandong Advanced Material which are primarily used as fillers and additives in chemical and glass manufacturing industries, have been certified by the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI). This certification was achieved after the facility underwent rigorous independent, third-party audits conducted by DNV Business Assurance Services UK Ltd, a globally recognized auditing firm.
The ASI Certification program, developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process, is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard V3 and ASI CoC Standard V2, introduced in May 2022, resulted from a multi-year revision process.
The ASI Performance Standard outlines 11 principles and 62 criteria across three key sustainability pillars: Environment, Social, and Governance. Its goal is to tackle critical sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain, such as biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples' rights, circularity, and greenhouse gas emissions.
The ASI CoC (Chain of Custody) Standard establishes requirements for creating a chain of custody for materials produced and processed through the value chain into various downstream sectors. Implementing the ASI's CoC Standard ensures that verified practices at successive supply chain steps, certified under the ASI Performance Standard, are linked to the products produced by ASI Certified Entities.
