According to the General Administration of Customs data, China’s unwrought aluminium (including primary metal and alloy) and aluminium products exports in November came in at 452,000 tonnes after recording an increase of 4.9 per cent month-on-month. In October, however, China’s unwrought aluminium and aluminium products exports were down by 1.18 per cent from the previous month to 429,852 tonnes. In September also, the exports were lower by 6.6 per cent from 466,000 tonnes in August to 435,000 tonnes.
{alcircleadd}In the first eleven months of the year, China’s total volume of unwrought aluminium (including primary metal and alloy) and aluminium products exports amounted to 5.25 million tonnes, down 0.3 per cent from the corresponding period last year.
China’s production of primary aluminium also fell in November by about 0.81 per cent year-on-year to 2.94 million tonnes. Output in January-November stood at 32.39 million tonnes, with a year-on-year decline of 2.14%.
At the end of November, the domestic capacity of primary aluminium operation climbed to 35.9 million tonnes per year, attributing to high profits margins. SMM survey found the average profit for producing primary aluminium exceeded RMB 600 per tonne in November.
SMM expects China’s primary aluminium production to increase to 3.05 million tonnes in December, up 1.94 per cent from a year earlier.
