Emirates Global Aluminium, the biggest industrial enterprise in the United Arab Emirates, excluding the oil and gas sectors, has bagged the platinum UAE Innovation Award from Dubai Quality Group, a UAE-based training and knowledge-sharing global hub.
The UAE Innovation Awards ceremony is chaired by the President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, the Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, the Chairman of Dubai Airports and His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum himself.
EGA was the recipient of the UAE Innovation Award for a successful leap toward innovation and improvement by relentlessly monitoring the global competitive market along with excelling in its advancements.
Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, Chief Executive Officer of EGA, said: “We are honoured to be recognised at the UAE Innovation Awards. Innovation and continuous improvement have been at the core of EGA for decades and are part of our values. We now have a bold aspiration to innovate the future of aluminium production and act as a technology pathfinder for our global industry.”
UAE’s aluminium smelting methodology has been solely developed by EGA and has been running well for the last three decades. The company is acclaimed for applying its own technology in every smelter expansion happening since the 1990s and has upgraded all its older aluminium production lines with modern equipment.
In 2016, EGA signed a deal with Aluminium Bahrain becoming the first UAE industrial company to patent its core process technology in a global purview.
EGA has initiated one of the longest-running structure suggestion schemes in the world, which is under continuous development. Over the previous years, almost 500,000 ideas have been shared by the EGA employees for technical and operational hierarchy, saving more than a hundred million dirhams for the company. The savings are then transferred to the employees as incentives who participate in the drive.
EGA has also introduced a programme named ‘Tamayaz’, via which EGA’s mid-level managers can gather their teams to decode problems, run detailed tests to find probable loopholes and rectify them.
Launched in 2016, the UAE Innovation Awards initiated by Dubai Quality Group was solely to comply with the National Innovation Strategy alongside the organisation’s ideology to encourage the production of quality products in the UAE.
