ASI's Certification programme is a result of extensive collaboration among multiple stakeholders and stands as the foremost comprehensive initiative for promoting sustainability across the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard V2 (2017) sets forth a comprehensive framework encompassing environmental, social, and governance principles and criteria.
The primary objective of this standard is to address sustainability challenges within the aluminium industry. With a total of 59 criteria across three pillars, Environment, Social, and Governance, the standard targets critical issues such as biodiversity, labour rights, rights of Indigenous Peoples, and greenhouse gas emissions.
The rigorous evaluation process was conducted through impartial, third-party audits of Hindalco Industries Ltd.'s Kuppam Works, with CETIZION Verifica overseeing the assessment. These audits were completed before May 31, 2023, thus paving the way for the facility to secure the coveted Performance Standard V2 certification.
Fiona Solomon, the Chief Executive Officer at ASI, expressed her congratulations to Hindalco Industries Ltd. for their achievement, stating, "We extend our warmest congratulations to Hindalco Industries Ltd. for attaining the ASI Performance Standard Certification at their Kuppam Works facility.”
