A sectoral session on the metal, downstream, and auxiliary industries was held on the Make in Odisha Conclave's second day. More than ten top industry leaders addressed a sizable crowd of business titans, policymakers, investors, and many more. The Minister of Industries, Energy and MSME, Pratap Kesari Dev, addressed the session, which invited investors to invest in downstream units in Odisha.
{alcircleadd}Hemant Sharma, the Principal Secretary of Industry, explained why investors should invest in downstream industries in Odisha. Sharma highlighted the government's emphasis on parks, clusters, and hubs. He referred to Vedanta Aluminium Park and Angul Aluminium Park and urged MSMEs to take advantage of the opportunity.
Dr Tapan Kumar Chand, the Resident Director of Vedanta and the Former Chairman cum Managing Director of National Aluminium Company (NALCO) in his address, said, “Odisha is first in Bauxite, first in Alumina, and first in Aluminium production and will soon be first in downstream aluminium products.”
He also congratulated the state administration for securing investments totalling more than INR 7 lakh crore on the first day of the conclave.
Dr Chand invited investors to invest in Jharsuguda Aluminium Park to establish export-oriented and high-tech units. At the same time, he emphasized that Angul Aluminium Park and Jharsuguda Aluminium Parks are ideal for new investors interested in manufacturing cables, extrusion items, aluminium powder, foil, packaging material, and so on.
While in Nalco as CMD, Dr Chand promoted the setting up of Nalco Angul Aluminium Park. Now in Vedanta as Director, he is front-driving Vedanta World Class Aluminium Park at Jharsuguda.
