According to the International Aluminium Institute, primary aluminium production in Russia & Eastern Europe stood at 350,000 tonnes of primary aluminium in August 2022, reflecting a monthly and yearly restraint.
{alcircleadd}In the first eight months of the year, primary aluminium production in Russia & Eastern Europe totalled 2.729 million tonnes, down by 1.03 per cent from 2.757 million tonnes during the same period last year.
In Western & Central Europe, primary aluminium production during August’22 amounted to 250,000 tonnes, seeing a loss of 1,000 tonnes month-on-month from 251,000 tonnes. The output in July saw an increase of 8,000 tonnes from 243,000 tonnes in May.
On a year-on-year calculation, Western & Central Europe’s primary aluminium output in August’22 stood 29,000 tonnes or 10.40 per cent lower than 279,000 tonnes.
In the first eight months of 2022, the output in Western & Central Europe totalled 1.983 million tonnes, down by 11.20 per cent from 2.233 million tonnes a year ago.
The world primary aluminium production in August was 5.888 million tonnes, bringing the total production year to date at 45.448 million tonnes. On a month-on-month basis, August output reflected a restraint compared to 5.878 million tonnes but increased over the year by 3.75 per cent from 5.675 million tonnes.
