Extrusion manufacturing facility based outside Toronto, Spectra Aluminium, has reportedly ordered a 28-MN front-loading direct extrusion press and 5,000 kg/h, high-efficiency gas billet oven from Danieli Brada for producing industrial profiles starting from 8” to 9” aluminium billets. The new extrusion press and the gas billet oven will be installed in Bradford, Ontario, Canada.
{alcircleadd}The press will be equipped with the Danieli-patented Energy Saving solution ESED 4.0 that allows average energy savings of 25-30 per cent compared to traditional systems available in the market. The press will also feature fully electric billet loading right from the oven to the press, which will significantly reduce the billet heat/energy loss and improve billet temperature accuracy. The automation system, also developed by Danieli, will include remote-controlled HMI via tablets.
The gas billet oven, on the other hand, is also designed to reduce heat loss from the exhaust fumes, in addition to minimising gas consumption per extruded tonne up to 30 per cent to 35 per cent depending on the product mix. Owing to the improved design of the burners and gas recirculation of the oven, production of 5,000 kg/h billets at 480 °C will also be possible.
The operation of the new extrusion press and billet over is scheduled in the second quarter of 2020.
