Ronald Odur, a famous Ugandan sculptor, uses aluminium plates, copper wires, and acrylics to create his work of art. Themes of his works sculpted in aluminium printing are displayed in his living room.
{alcircleadd}He created a chandelier out of 1200 cast aluminium bullets strung together with copper wires. His other remarkable creations include a passport, a carton of cigarettes, a bottle of moonshine gin, and aluminium replicas of Ugandan currency notes.
The only other items in his room are a bible, a stone, and an aluminium-plate television set from 1990. He calls his piece of art Muwawa, which means "without care" in the original Arabic. The Ugandan artist chose copper wires and aluminium printing plates because he wanted his work to be distinctive.
Born in 1992, Odur received his education at Kyambogo University. He began displaying his works in many international art exhibitions, including The Last Image Show in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, and The Kampala Art Biennale, both of which were organised by Simon Njami.
