Uniseven rolls-out ‘Collector Bar’ for aluminium smelters

The Kolkata based Uniseven Engineering & Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, being a solution provider in the Aluminium value chain business for the last four decades and possess a rich experience in the industry by providing value-added services, is now manufacturing the Collector Bar (CB) that goes into the potlines in Aluminium Smelter.

Uniseven partnered with Jekay International Track Pvt Ltd. of Kolkata, one of the largest integrated manufacturer and exporter of Rail Track Fittings, Turnouts & Steel Structures (Heavy, Medium & Small sections), for manufacturing the CB.

There are two manufacturing units:

Unit-1 situated at Liluah, Howrah, West Bengal, where different kind of fabrication work like Channel sleeper, H Beam Sleepers, Base plates, Fish plates related to the Railways sector being produced.

Unit-2 situated at Raipur, Chhattisgarh, consists of a Heavy Rolling mill with a capacity of 100000 MT per annum. In this rolling mill, different sizes of Structural steel i.e. Tor, Round, Flat, Channels, Square, Tele Channels, Rod, Beams, Angles, Joists and various special profiles like Fish plate bar, Baseplate, Metal liner bar, Steel sleeper etc. being manufactured.

The above ‘State of the Art’ manufacturing facilities has been upgraded further to ensure the highest precision while producing the customised niche products, like the steel CB (with wide range of Carbon content with different specifications), new-generation copper inserted CB & copper slotted CB, as per the Clients’ specifications & designs/ drawings. The high-performance Copper inserted CB facilitates optimisation of energy consumption in the smelting process.

Raw Materials (Steel & Copper) for producing CB are being procured from suitable sources. In the rolling process, blooms/ billets are transformed into high-quality products through complex heating, rolling, machining and inspection & testing processes that are downright automated. Cu inserted CB being produced by deep hole drilling & slot milling processes. Necessary Quality Assurance Plan being followed at the plants.

Presently, a trial of the collector bar is being conducted successfully at a smelter in India. Additionally, active discussions are ongoing for necessary trials in the other Indian and global smelters.
