According to the US Census Bureau report, the country imported 34,200 tonnes of aluminium scrap from Canada in April 2021. That was almost flat compared to 34,800 tonnes in March 2021. However, the import volume in March increased month-on-month by 5,500 tonnes or 18.77 per cent from 29,300 tonnes in February.
On the other hand, on a year-on-year calculation, the United States aluminium scrap imports from Canada stood double than 17,000 tonnes.
{alcircleadd}In the first four months of the year, the United States aluminium scrap imports from Canada totalled 133,000 tonnes, up 25.47 per cent from 106,000 tonnes during the same period last year.
The United States total aluminium imports (including aluminium crude metals and alloys and aluminium plates, sheets and bars) from Canada amounted to 299,000 tonnes in April 2021, reflecting a month-on-month increase of 9.52 per cent from 273,000 tonnes.
On a year-on-year basis, the United States total aluminium imports from Canada stood 22 per cent higher than 245,000 tonnes.
In the first four months of 2021, the United States total aluminium imports from Canada came in at 1.02 million tonnes.
