On 25th February 2021, Dr Guy Leblanc, Vice-President and Medical Advisor of A3 Surfaces stated his concern on government financial aid totalling $ 4.7 million: "The company is now on the verge of reaching a major milestone, that of the production and marketing of its products.”

A3 Surfaces has built a technology to make an aluminium surface self-disinfecting, which eliminates bacteria and viruses found there. The co-founder of the company expects 2021 to be a “pivotal year” for A3 Surfaces.

Dr Leblanc added on this subject while speaking of upcoming commercialization and other expected announcements: “The commercialization of this unique technology in the world, patented and which is the result of several years of research and development, is on the right track.”

"We can sell and market our products in the 27 countries of the European Union, so we'll start with that initially," he said.

The commissioning of the $8 million projects for a new plant specializing in the processing of anodized aluminium continues. The A3 Surfaces facilities operative with 10 staffs is located on Rue de la Manic, in the Henri-Girard industrial park, in Chicoutimi.

Dr Leblanc said: “We already have the idea of ordering a second anodizing line in Chicoutimi. The plan to build a factory in Montreal is still on the cards, as is the sale of licenses around the world.”

“When marketing can go ahead, the issue will be one of production management for A3 Surfaces. It's a question of being able to supply on demand.”

“The technology developed by A3 Surfaces is generating major interest around the world, particularly in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. We see it, through the contacts we have, the interests are of global order”, he underlined, speaking of interest in the medical field or the transport sector.

Domestically, A3 Surfaces received the green light from Health Canada in April to authorize its use in medical settings.

On 25th February, the Govt. of Canada and the provincial Govt. of Quebec announced repayable financial aid totalling $ 4.7 million to support the plant's operation.

Quebec Govt. announced the granting of loans totalling $ 3.2 million, via Investissement Québec, an amount that had however already been announced for the first time in December’20 by the financial arm of the Quebec state.

However, the 25th February announcement did not represent new amounts for the company, as confirmed by the Ministry of Economy and Innovation.

Canada Economic Development (CED) for Quebec Regions is offering a repayable contribution of $ 1.5 million to A3 Surfaces.
