Aditya Aluminium, a unit of AV Birla group company Hindalco Industries, has initiated a project in a partnership with the Odisha government to provide an uninterrupted supply of electricity to the villages of Sambalpur district.
The project involves in providing safe and sustainable electric energy to four villages - Bhursipali, Bhalupatra, Tileimal and Pitapali.
Aditya Aluminium has already installed 28 solar-powered street lights in four villages. At least 550 people from this electrification work have been benefited.

Bibhu Prasad Mishra, chief operating officer (COO) of Aditya Aluminium, said, "Safe and sustainable electric energy has already been distributed for free to these villages. The well-lit streets mean that the villagers can now move in and around their neighbourhood without fear after dark. Their children could study under the solar powered street lights.
He further added: “In addition, the village youth have been trained to carry out repair and maintenance activity in case of an emergency."
