In West Europe, alumina production in April 2021 stood at 440,000 tonnes, reflecting a month-on-month decline of 51,000 tonnes or 10.39 per cent, showed the International Aluminium Institute. In March, alumina production in West Europe increased by 52,000 tonnes or 11.85 per cent from 439,000 tonnes in February to 491,000 tonnes. In January 2021, West Europe’s alumina production came in at 479,000 tonnes.
{alcircleadd}In the first four months of 2021, alumina output in West Europe totalled 1.849 million tonnes, down by 2.27 per cent from 1.892 million tonnes during the same period last year.
On a year-on-year calculation, alumina production in West Europe in April 2021 stood 32,000 tonnes or 6.78 per cent lower than 472,000 tonnes.
Alumina production in East & Central Europe, on the other hand, stood slightly higher at 399,000 tonnes in April 2021 compared to 398,000 tonnes in March. In January and February, East & Central Europe’s alumina output came in at 410,000 tonnes and 359,000 tonnes, respectively.
Total production in East & Central Europe during January-April 2021 pegged at 1.566 million tonnes, up 5.03 per cent year-on-year from 1.491 million tonnes.
East & Central Europe’s alumina production in April 2021 recorded an increase of 19,000 tonnes or 5 per cent year-on-year from 380,000 tonnes.
