Bauxite weekly recap: United States crude and dried bauxite imports become weaker by 10.55% in Q1 2021; Australian Bauxite raises AUD 3.25-million by fully subscribed share placement

The US import of crude and dried bauxite further decreased on quarter and stood at 695,000 tonnes in Q1 2021 ended on March 31, found the Geological Survey data. The import plunged by 82,000 tonnes or 10.55 per cent from 777,000 tonnes in Q4 2020. On the downward part of the world, Australian Bauxite Limited announced that it had raised AUD 3.25 million from new institutional and sophisticated investors and directors through a fully subscribed share placement with attaching options.

The United States import of crude and dried bauxite further decreased on quarter and stood at 695,000 tonnes in Q1 2021 ended on March 31, found the Geological Survey data. The import plunged by 82,000 tonnes or 10.55 per cent from 777,000 tonnes in Q4 2020. On a year-on-year calculation, the United States’ crude and dried bauxite imports in Q1 2021 stood 80,000 tonnes or 10.32 per cent lower than 775,000 tonnes.

On 24th May 2021, Australian Bauxite Limited announced that it had raised AUD 3.25 million from new institutional and sophisticated investors and directors through a fully subscribed share placement with attaching options. Australian Bauxite’s Tasmanian aluminium fluoride production plans and an ongoing scout for rare earth elements in the state's north have received solid backing from the investors.

The Jamaican Minister of Transport and Mining, Robert Montague stated that the government has revised the Cockpit Country mining agreement. As confirmed by the minister, the amendment incorporates the eradication of 6,000 hectares of land, which are adjoining to the Cockpit Country, from the original Special Mining Lease 173 (SML 173).
