Google has announced the launch of its first foldable smartphone after intense speculation. The teaser of Google Pixel Fold has been officially released via the Google Store. The phone displays a hardy glass panel with an integrated aluminium frame.
The teaser suggests that Google Pixel Fold is set to launch on May 10. Though the team hasn’t disclosed any specifications yet, the first look defines the device’s design and foldable qualities.
Just like Apple, Motorola and other brands drawn toward sustainability, Google has been promoting the use of aluminium in many of its recent flagship models. This is a major leap for the non-ferrous metal since it was already being widely used in the automobile and other technological sectors. This continuous incorporation of aluminium in their products ensures the metal’s massive growth in the future.
Google Pixel Fold will replicate the foldable mechanism of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, with a similar alignment of back cameras the company installed in its previous model, Google Pixel 7 Pro. The smartphone will be loaded with Android 13. With a 4,500 mAh battery and a 23W fast charging support, the phone will have an outer screen measuring 5.8 inches, which unfolds to become 7.6 inches in all.
No wonder the phone will have a wider appearance than the conventional foldable smartphones available in the market. Google has previously used aluminium for the framework for its patented smartphones, most prominently in Google Pixel 7, Google Pixel 7 Pro, Google Pixel 6a and Google Pixel 5.
To our disappointment, the phone may not be launched in India, but that does not stop us from appreciating the superlative research that has been done by the Google team while developing this device.
