Collaboration is a buzzword in the watch business, and Hublot is undoubtedly one of the most active watch manufacturers. Hublot has collaborated with Nespresso to develop a Big Bang utilising recycled aluminium pods and coffee grounds as part of their most recent and unexpected cooperation.
The Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origin, an outcome of a partnership between Hublot and Nespresso, embodies the ideals of innovation, quality, and sustainability that are important to both companies. The 42mm casing, bezel, pushers, and crown of the watch are made of recycled aluminium, which contains 28 per cent Nespresso capsules and is etched with Nespresso's N emblem. The sapphire case-back features a recycled Eco-Titanium frame.

The aluminium used for this 200-piece limited edition watch is anodised in a brilliant emerald green, evocative of the Master Origins Peru Organic capsule. Not only this, recycled coffee grounds from Nespresso capsules are also a part of this watch. This accounts for 4.1 per cent of the rubber strap, which also contains 8.2 per cent recycled rubber.
The second fabric strap, which is readily convertible with the rubber strap owing to the brand's One Click interchangeable strap technology, is composed of 100 per cent recycled fabric that contains 5 per cent coffee grounds and 95 per cent recycled polyester. It seems that it took a year to establish the hue consistency of the seven different materials that make up the various sections of this watch.
The self-winding chronograph watch, powered by Hublot's HUB1280 in-house movement, is offered in the brand's new Greenbox casing, completing the circularity loop. The box is composed of ethically sourced wood and contains replaceable internal components, mostly recycled or eco-friendly materials.
