ITP launches aluminium membrane FlameOut Block for fire protection in buildings

Industrial Textiles & Plastics (ITP) Ltd, one of the leading creators of building membrane solutions, has introduced a brand new vapour control layer flaunting a Euroclass A rating called FlameOut Block. This latest addition permits façade designers to minimise fire outbreaks with the help of an external aluminium wall covering.

The company’s latest FlameOut Block Class A item has been separately scrutinised under British and international flame retardant standards, like Euroclass A2-s1,d0 rating, which transverses over the lowest required protocols for vapour control and coincides with the fire safety regulations needed to be maintained for constructing façades on 18m buildings and above.

It works best as a system when installed with PowerbondFR aluminium reflective tape perfectly hoisted on a supporting framework. It has a glass-based woven scrim and a protective aluminium layer that has been sprayed with a type of coating that reduces corrosion. The material displays a W1 rating for water tightness, extreme water vapour resistance and a seamless reflective surface for amplified energy efficiency. The skeletal glass scrim provides superb tensile strength in wall or roof insulations, and the product has been CE certified to BS EN 13984.

The Managing Director at ITP, Marc van der Voort, commented: “Our original FlameOut Block vapour control layer is well established on the market, offering superb durability and water repellence, outstanding protection against moisture and a Euroclass B-s1,d0 rating which is fully compliant with fire safety regulations. The product remains a highly popular specification, but we have invested in textile technology to develop an alternative FlameOut Block product that offers the same all-round performance combined with an upgraded Euroclass A2-s1,d0 rating.”

“Building Regulations require a minimum rating of Euroclass B for vapour control layers, but many contractors, architects and façade specialists will welcome the availability of an A-rated option. Our sector is increasingly concluding that, where possible, vapour control layers and breather membranes should meet the same levels of fire safety performance which are required by law for other external wall features such as cladding,” he added.

Flameout Block falls under the elongated portfolio of protective membrane solutions patented by ITP.
