Following years of planning and investment, Metalcorp Group S.A., a global service provider for acquiring, producing, mining, and selling metals and minerals, announced the first commercial shipment of 160,000 tonnes of bauxite in Guinea. This was carried out under the chairmanship of Mr Karamoko Soumah, General Inspector of the Ministry of Mines and Geology in Guinea.
The bauxite is produced by Société des Bauxites de Guinée (SBG), a subsidiary of Metalcorp, in its own mine in the Guinean town of Garafiri and shipped using equipment built for that purpose. The approved port facility in the Konta area immediately loads the bauxite into barges that transport it to a transhipment vessel, where it is finished loading before being transferred to a Cape Size freighter bound for a Chinese end-user.

Likewise, our thanks go to our employees and stakeholders whose outstanding performance brought this mine into production and export. The follow-up shipment is in process and we look forward to continuing our positive momentum into the future for the SBG project,” stated Carlos Leite, CEO of Metalcorp Group.
Local communities, national and international technical and financial partners and civil and military officials from the Kindia region attended the ceremony. SBG, whose mine in Linsan, Kindia Prefecture, has an annual production capacity of 8,000,000 tonnes.
This occasion represented a significant turning point for Metalcorp Group, the holding firm of SBG. With deposits surpassing 600 million metric tonnes, Metalcorp Group invested significantly in bauxite mining in the Republic of Guinea since 2018.
