The Doraguda based, in Rayagada district of Orissa, a fully owned company of Hindalco, the metals flagship company of Aditya Birla Group’s alumina refinery Utkal Alumina International (UAIL), having its mines at Baphlimali with reserves lasting for over 25 years and a captive co-generation power plant of 90 MW.
Baphlimali mine is the source of bauxite for UAIL through an 18-kilometer long conveyor, a rare in the world of supply.
The Baphlimali Bauxite Mine of UAIL under the patronage of the Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), Bhubaneswar region celebrated 22nd Mines Environment & Mineral Conservation Week 2019-20.
The main purpose of this event regarded to conserving mineral resources & protecting the environment in and around the mines area, and also to encourage awareness on these vital sides among the stakeholders associated with mining.
Mr. Mukesh Kumar Jha, Head of Mines, inaugurated and hoisted the MEMC flag at Baphlimali Mines. Eventually, oath-taking also took place in respect of the noble event and commitment to clean the environment and conserve natural resources.
The awareness program was observed at mines by organizing different activities among employees, stakeholders & workers. On this event, Baphlimali mines were inspected by the Inspection Team convener Shri K. K. Sahoo, GM- Mines, M/s Penguin Trading and Agencies and the team members Mr. Shri C K Rath, Manager Mines, M/s. Shri Probodh Mohanty and Shri Manoj Pattanaik, Manager (Geo), M/s MGM Minerals.
An awareness act was staged on the inspection day. This program was well harmonized by the mines team under the guidance of Shri Mukesh Kumar Jha, Shri KC Jyotishi, Head- Geology, Shri Sukanta Mahapatra, and Head Mines Administration.
