Penrhos Spirits, a Herefordshire-based liquor company, is planning to relaunch its award-winning spirits in specially constructed aluminium bottles starting in the winter of 2022–2023. The company is also launching a new limited-edition drink in honour of its upcoming packaging goals for the New Year. Herefordshire is a county in the West Midlands of England governed by the Herefordshire Council.
{alcircleadd}The team chose to develop the aluminium bottles to give customers a more environmentally friendly alternative to glass bottles as part of Penrhos' continued commitment to sustainability and reducing its carbon footprint.
"At Penrhos Spirits, we are always looking for ways to improve our sustainability in both the orchards and distillery. This launch marks an exciting moment in the Penrhos journey, and if we can do it as a relatively small, growing brand, then we want to raise a challenge to the wider drinks community too, to get on board," said Charlie Turner, one of the founders of Penrhos Spirits.
The introduction of aluminium bottles comes after the release of 2.5-litre refillable pouches for trade earlier in 2022. These pouches are recyclable for on-trade consumers and need less energy to produce and transport than glass bottles. Throughout 2023, the Penrhos line of spirits will be sold exclusively in aluminium bottles. Penrhos also launched a limited-edition Wonky Raspberry flavour to commemorate the move, utilising extra, shaky raspberries from the farm during summer 2022.
